Gold Coast based music streaming service Guvera has advised that they will exit the Australian market to focus on emerging markets.
The troubled service, which last month entered administration has advised shareholders in a memo ‘Unfortunately, the time has come for Guvera to withdraw from the Australian market’. In the same memo, Guvera advised that ‘in order to achieve sustainable and long-term goals, we will focus all efforts in key emerging countries, such as India and Indonesia’.
While the doors are still open on guvera.com website, the final curtain is believed to be dropping next week.
After the initial announcement of issues last month, we asked Virgin Mobile about their partnership with the service and the One B1g Gig promotion which offers Virgin Mobile customers an additional 1GB of data per month for using the service. Virgin Mobile at the time advised:
Whilst we’re not able to comment on Guvera as a business, we can confirm Virgin Mobile is committed to providing our customers with the ONE B1G G1G offer until 2nd November 2016.
Our customers will continue to receive the 1GB bonus whilst they’re still able to login to the Guvera app on their Virgin Mobile until this date. We will get in touch with our customers if anything changes.
That’s a very short time-frame, but still allows a good 3-months of service. If you’ve been a user of the Guvera service, it’s time to look around for other options.
