After releasing to Nvidia Shield TV owners a few weeks ago, Vector Unit has brought their latest title Riptide GP: Renegade to other Android devices including Android TV.
The games is available now from Google Play for $3.99, but with that higher price you get a better experience than their previous high-end title Riptide GP2. Riptide GP: Renegade includes new tracks, and updated hydrojet and unlike the first couple of games features an actual story mode:
You are a hydrojet rider, framed and cast out from the Riptide GP league, forced to race illegally through city waterways, flooded ruins, and churning factory machinery in an effort to reclaim your reputation and your title. Play through the single player career to unlock new vehicles, playable characters, and customization features as you take down bosses and build your crew.
Throughout career mode you’ll take down bosses and earn cash from each level, once you build your cash reserves you can ‘upgrade and customize your hydro jet, unlock new stunts, and increase your rider’s performance’. But don’t expect these to be in-app purchases because there’s none listed it’s all included in the $3.99 price tag, this is in-game upgrades done right.
Once you’re finished with the story mode, you can try your hand at multi-player mode with up to 4 players able to play locally, or you can head on-line and play up to 8 players from around the world.
Spending most of your time in, on or at least around water, Vector Unit has worked on the water and splash effects for the game, with improved water physics, and splash-tastic spray effects. It basically looks great, and plays great.
The trailer up on the Vector Unit YouTube channel appears to be for the PC or Console version of the game – yep, you can play this on your PS4 or computer – but gives you a good idea of the game play:
It’s available to download from Google Play right now, so head over and check it out.
