Do you use Microsoft’s Office apps on Android? If you do, then today’s update to their background services may just be of interest to you. If you did use Office for Android but wanted to use a cloud storage solution apart from One Drive or Dropbox you were a little out of luck.
However, today the Office team announced that they are opening up their Cloud Storage Partner Program to more services. At the moment is seems that OneDrive, Dropbox, Box, Egnyte, Tencent and Sharepoint are now viable as options. Apparently, more providers will be coming online soon. For those of us in the Googleverse, hopefully Google Drive will be online soon.
The update will bring two-way integration, when you launch an Office app you will be able to access connected accounts, conversely if you are in your cloud storage app and click on an Office file it will now open in the Office app, assuming you have it installed of course.
Dropbox has been integrated for a while. I’ve been using it at work and it’s a great way of sharing docs and doing real time editing and collaboration with people outside your company
