Twitter is a mainstay in the social media market, but the problem is you can get caught in some long-winded exchanges. When this happens, the notifications can seem endless and cause huge frustration. A recent Tweet by Domenic Camozzi points to a potential feature change and soon.

The ability to simply “unmention” yourself from a thread, allowing the conversation to continue seamlessly without you. That’s not all though, the potential to get a notification when someone you don’t follow mentions you is in the thread. With this notification, you’ll have the option to allow, or not, the tag to be published.

The social media giants are continuing to focus on privacy and the influence their product has on mental health. The ability to prevent tags, DMs or even lock down your account is just part of that. It seems to be a step in the right direction, so it will be interesting to see what happens if it’s delivered.
