Today Roborock has introduced its S8 Series of robot vacuums in Australia. The three devices expand on the existing range while bringing new features to market at an aggressive price.
The S8 Series uses the most powerful cleaning system we have ever seen in the Australian market to date on a robot vacuum. Paired with the ability to maneuver around objects and maintain itself, customers can now enjoy a hands-free deep clean than ever before.

What Roborock has done with the new devices is to deliver the evolution of the high-range vacuums that take robot vacuums to a new level. The new isn’t just for home use either, with the feature set being well suited to business workspaces; we’ll take a closer look at the features of each device shortly.
Roborock S8 Pro Ultra
The top of the range devices, as you would expect, comes with all the bells and whistles. Having used several devices in the space previously, this is the first time I’ve seen a device that I believe could go very close to eliminating the need for people to do cleaning versus a “maintenance” clean other devices provide.
The latest innovations in the range include a self-washing and drying mop, a self-emptying vacuum catch tank, a self-cleaning dock and significantly faster charging than previous generations. The improvements don’t stop there, though; some of the newly designed features are highly functional.
Addressing many of the issues users have with existing robot vacuums, Roborock has increased the suction to 6000Pa, with a duoRoller function to avoid tangles and binds if you have long-haired pets (or humans) in your home.
The mopping system also has greater efficiency with the vibraRise system, which adds vibration to the system. This means that the mop is no longer just dragging a wet rag across your floor, it’s actually cleaning it!
The S8 series is equipped with 3D obstacle avoidance which is aided by LiDAR, also used for mapping and navigation. The result of this is an accurate map of your home and the capacity to identify a significant number of common household obstacles, ensuring power cables aren’t dragged around the home and further mess isn’t created.
As part of the mapping process, the software will also suggest no-go zones. Areas such as balconies and rooms with a step up or down that the machine may struggle with. NB. There still isn’t a robot vacuum that can handle stairs…
What this all equates to is a cleaner home with up to 7 weeks of cleaning without any manual intervention required by the householder.
The series is available through the usual retailers, including JB Hi-Fi, Harvey Norman, Godfreys, Bing Lee, David Jones, Mbilecity, Robot Specialists and Roborock online. Pre-orders — including a free gift — start from the 7th of April through till the 28th through the above retailers and general availability is from May.
Pricing for the units are:
- S8 Pro Ultra – $2.699.00
- S8 Plus – $1,899.00
- S8 – $1,299.00
Clearly, they’re not an impulse buy item, but if you’ve got the finances and need to free some time for yourself during the week; there are a lot of features and functionality in the S8 series that will make it worth your investment.
