Australians are hungry for mobile data and the deals just keep on coming. Today it’s OVO Mobile who have upped their data limits across their entire range at no extra cost, as well as introducing a new MiniPlus plan aimed at the younger market.

The increase in data to their mobile plans is being applied to both new customers and existing customers who opt-in through their personal dashbaord on the OVO webite before the end of January 2019. This is the second round of data hikes from OVO Mobile this year, with some plans increasing by more than double this year.

The increase in data to their customers comes after a study from deloitte showed that 43 per cent of Australians are regularly going over their mobile data limits, resulting in paying an additional $313 million per year. It’s only going to get worse, with ABS stats showing we’re using nearly 50% more data year-over-year.

With OVO able to offer these great inclusions on their no contract mobile phone plans OVO founder and CEO Matt Jones questions the value of lock-in contracts, saying

It’s times like this when it’s very easy to see why prepaid mobile phone plans are the smart option in this country, particularly when the provider regularly delivers no-cost data package increases. OVO was set up to give mobile customers a fairer deal. No lock-in contracts, no complicated terms and conditions, and if there’s a chance we can pass on a saving or offer extra benefits, we do it. Super-fast 4G mobile data is becoming cheaper. If your telco isn’t continually passing these savings on, you’re with the wrong telco.

As well as offering more data, OVO Mobiles new MiniPlus plan offers a cost-effective plan with 2GB of included data, and unlimited national calls and SMS to standard numbers within Australia. The plan also include a free subscription to FamilyZone cyber safety features (worth $59.40 pa) at no additional cost.

The new data inclusions, plus the addition of the new MiniPlus plan show a lot of value across the OVO Mobile range, a pretty promising trend for a mobile carrier. In addition to the usual mobile inclusions, OVO also offers OVO Time – ‘data-free viewing of the tens of thousands of hours of unique content on OVOPlay including rugby, esports, soccer, drag racing, gymnastics, water polo, badminton and a variety of other entertainment’.

To check out the new range of plans you can head over to ovo.com.au, or pick up a SIM card from 7-Eleven and selected Australia Post stores.
