With Australia staring down the barrel of forced social distancing measures, and a good many of us being asked to work from home and stay away from large crowds, its inevitable that we’re going to be looking for ways to entertain ourselves while stuck at home.

In recognition that people are probably going to smash their mobiles for entertainment, games and more, Optus will be giving postpaid customers 20GB extra data to use next month, and pre-paid customers recharging more than $40 during April will receive an extra 10GB of data.

Optus CEO designate Kelly Bayer Rosmarin said:

“These are unprecedented times, and we want to help Australians who find themselves having to self-isolate or work from home to stay connected.”

“We understand how much it means to customers to stay connected with their colleagues, classmates, family and friends. Access to data is critical, so we are playing our part in helping the community with our additional data offer”.

It’s not all fun and games though; customers at working from home may need additional ways to conference in with work colleagues, or to use their phones as hotspots for those without adequate internet at home.

It might be a small gesture, but it’s a welcome one nonetheless. Thanks Optus!

wondering if y’all might think about walking back the whole “everybody’s making a big deal over nothing” stance from a couple weeks back 🙃

No one said this wasn’t a big deal. But, stockpiling goods like the apocalypse is coming is what was agreed to be over the top.

I’ve had unlimited data from amaysim since December. They keep sending deals.
