If you’re on Vodafone you probably already know, but there is an ongoing major outage affecting voice and data services. The issue began around 11:30 am Eastern, with users on Vodafone and their MNVO partners reporting that despite their phone showing connection there was no actual connection. The issue was quickly acknowledged by Vodafone via Twitter:
We are aware of an issue impacting 4G services nationwide. Data services may be falling back to 3G intermittently, causing congestion and slower speeds. We are working to resolve this issue ASAP. We apologise for the inconvenience and thank customers for their patience.

You only need to glance at Down Detector to confirm that the issue isn’t just a small area, it’s large scale and widespread. Since the initial report above, the issue has since been identified by Vodafone and they are working to restore services as soon as possible.
**UPDATE** 2:45PM Eastern
As of minutes ago, Vodafone state that they are progressively restoring services.
UPDATE: We are progressively restoring 4G services for all customers nationwide. Over the course of the afternoon, customers will see their services return to normal. We thank customers for their continued patience.

Will Vodafone provide compensation? My phone in the Melbourne cbd has been down on 3g and 4g up until about now. Like a free data day or a free data addon or a free $30 topup
Would you also like a free holiday in N.Z.? 😉
free roaming on your next trip to NZ!!
Apparently a free data day or similar is coming according to the Vodafone Twitter.
