The HTC EVO 4G is one of the greatest Android Devices to be released this year, no doubt about it. But the sad thing is that it’s a CDMA/WiMax device, so it won’t work on Australian Carriers at all. But this could soon change.

Enter the rumours of the HTC Ace, well, they’re not really rumours at all. HTC’s Eric Lin — the same man who told us about Froyo coming at Christmas — has said this over the weekend:

โ€œBut I definitely think that because of all of the interest that people have had in the Evo, and how well itโ€™s been selling, that youโ€™ll definitely see European carriers be like โ€˜uh-oh, maybe we should get something like thatโ€™. But I donโ€™t have anything [to announce] quite yet.โ€

So in other words, if there’s Carrier interest in the EVO 4G for European markets, which use GSM networks like us, then HTC would indeed make the device.

I don’t know about you HTC, but I can sense a lot of interest in the Ace. What about you guys, are you interested in the HTC Ace?

umm…. YEAH!! Bring it on.

(new phone purchase delayed pending further Ace news)

I SECOND THAT! ๐Ÿ˜€ HTC Ace and the Droid X would smash the market in Australia!

Darren

I am an Evo fanboy! Am in the market for a new smartphone…there are a number of good ones on the shelves…but half a dozen crackers on the horizon. Bring on the HTC Evo/Ace!

James

I support my interest in the Australian Variant of this device.

TeZ

I’m definately interested in this device

Ty

Crap. Was just about to get a Desire. The Evo was my dream phone. I was even thinking about importing one, even thoguh it doesnt work here! I need this, looks like i’m holding off once again. When do you think it will be announced/released?

Montalbert

hopefully it comes with an easy-to-unlock bootloader! Not impressed at all with the Samsung Galaxy S. Looks too much like an iphone. Their UI is terrible imho.

NovaT

I would buy one in a heartbeat. However, they need to be quick in getting this phone to market otherwise we’ll have a similar situation like the Nexus1 where when it finally comes to Australia it’s almost time to start phasing it out for the next gen of phones.

Abhi

Defitely for sure. I have seen Evo4 which is fantastic apart from minor glitches. I am sure they would have fixed HTC Sense and frame rate issue by that time. Its processor is faster as well to give it further boost.

I eagerly look forward to Ace’s launch.

Egon

Yes please. Don’t make me buy an iphone

Phillomath

Hell yeah I’m interested! Android >4in device with HDMI out WILL BE my next phone.

nobodyatwp

I’m interested in any HTC android phone that ends up on Virgin!

I was just about to grey import a Nexus One… now that I’ve finally got the money all these new phones appear on the horizon!!

I’d prefer an HTC to a Samsung – so please hurry up and release this for an Oz market! Preferably Next G compatible (for me at least).

anonymous

hopefully it come with s-amoled

Graham

Rather! It looks well wicked, innit?

DriftingOpinion

I wonder if the “Ace” will have a 30FPS cap too… I would hope not :/

After reading rumoured specs of the SGS 2 everything else sounds dated ๐Ÿ™‚ As nice as the Evo is, it has a very average camera and even worse over-compressed 720p video (check out Engadget’s review for some samples). It would also be 3G only here so it loses some of it’s appeal. By the time it ever hit our shores it would be as dated as the original Droid/Milestone seems now. It’s lack of good GPU acceleration is also a turn off me (after seeing the 3D power of the SGS). And to top it off it’s battery life is… Read more ยป

+1 berko… new phone purchase delayed pending further Ace news.

I was just about to decide either N1 or Desire… but will wait a little longer. ๐Ÿ™‚

Oz would need to have 4G to interest me. SGS screen though slightly smaller beats Ace, as does cpu+gpu combo.

umm…. YEAH!! Bring it on.
