Google has created a program that allows people who aren’t typical programmers, to create simple (& sometimes sophisticated) Applications for the Android Platform. Pretty cool idea if you ask me.

App Inventor itself is still in beta and you have to sign up to a notifications list and be chosen to use it, at the moment. But once open to the public, I think it’ll be quite useful. A video of what it can do after the break.

Bring on the plethora of shitty cat meow-meow Apps!

Microsoft showed the power of software by establishing an empire that stretched from US to New Zealand by just making software products. Google will show how much bigger that empire could have been if the software were free and opensource. Google has the resources to develop android for free and can keep at it infinitely also it has the brandname that other open source software based companies dont have.
