The LG Optimus Black may already be available on a handful of Carriers, and I already have one in my hands right now to review, but come July 12th we’ll be able to add Telstra to the list of available outlets to purchase the Optimus Black. A source has told us that the device will launch Tuesday next week and will be $0 upfront on Telstra’s Freedom Connect Plan over 2 years.

From my play with the Optimus Black I can say it’s a fairly good device; strong design with a crappy UI. I’m hoping to have the review up in a few days, so look out for that if you’re interested.

Checked one out at optus today. UI was laggy. Felt like my Galaxy S before Gingerbread.

yeah I tried this one out a few weeks ago, not that spectacular and once again Telstra have over-priced this one. LG Optimus 3D though, that is one nice phone! and rightfully priced $0 on $59 Optus Cap.

Totally agree, I was surprised by how effective the 3D is – the phone itself was easy to navigate too. I suspect a nice stock Gingerbread ROM would turn the Black into a much better phone.

You can put custom roms on to the LG phone? Or is it locked like Motorola?

Julian Pinget

@Grunger it doesn’t have a locked bootloader like the motorolas of the past but you will still need to root and install a custom recovery mod, not that difficult TBH
