The latest platform distribution figures for Android have been released and as has been seen over the last couple of months, Gingerbread has continued its downward trend with it now running on just over 50% of Android Devices. The good news for Google and Android as a whole is that devices running Jelly Bean has risen from 2.7% to 6.7% and Ice Cream Sandwich has also risen and is running on 27.5% of devices up from 25.8% last month.
Devices running very early version of the Android operating system remain fairly static with both Cupcake and Donut showing no movement in their usage statistics. Devices running Eclair and Honeycomb have both dropped in usage whilst FroYo usage has increased from 10.3% to 12% which is a fairly big jump for an older version of the OS.
With Android 4.2 running on the recently released Nexus 4 and 10 the usage statistics for Jelly Bean have certainly seen a marked increase however one must wonder exactly how much they could have jumped if there was more than enough stock to satisfy demand.
Remember that all Nexus devices (post S) without carrier branding will have received the update – not just the 4 and 10.
All the new basic apps now support from 2.2, Wonder what donut and cupcake devices are doing, may be using as MP3 & 4 players or as GPS 🙂
and to be frank i’m still using 2.2.2 though i can upgrade to 2.3 but i feel 2.2.2 is more like win XP basic and still the BEST OS which handles FLASH and any other feature. Hoping to upgrade by end of this year 🙂
