Recently rumours have come to light that HTC are in negotiation with Amazon to manufacture a smartphone for the distribution giant, perhaps as part of their hail Mary strategy to get out of their seemingly perpetual slide into obscurity they’re clutching at any available opportunity to inject some cash flow into the company.
While the official decision is yet to be made and Amazon are yet to confirm that they have made a deal and are in fact working on a smartphone with HTC, the rumours are now changing shape slightly to suggest the rumoured device will be offered to Amazon prime subscribers only. While this seems a strange move in that it restricts their potential market dramatically, it’s great for Amazon giving them an exclusive to offer their subscribers.
Is this another desperate grab for market like the HTC Facebook First? Or does it have some merit behind the HTC and Amazon team up?
