The Moto X+1 is probably very close to a launch right now, leaks have been getting closer together as we get closer and today EvLeaks has shown off what he says is the Moto X+1 ensconced in a protective case.

It’s a good looking render, which if the clock in the top right of the screenshot is to be believed, confirms the phone will launch with Android 4.4 (KitKat). That could however change quite quickly depending on the outcome of Google I/O this week, if Google decides to release a new version Android. An announcement of which, wouldn’t be too much of a problem for Motorola, who have been sending out updates to their Moto X, G and E line of phones with extreme speed since they all launched.

A Moto X+1 will apparently be using a much larger screen that it’s predecessor, with rumours placing the screen size at the 5.2″ size. The 5.2″ screen is also going to up the resolution game to FullHD (1920×1080) but again using an AMOLED display. The Moto X+1 would include 2GB of RAM and apparently come in three storage sizes : 16, 32 and 64GB, with a microSD card slot.

Motorola first announced that the Moto X would get a second version, announcing it during a Q&A session back at Mobile World Congress, saying that the phone would launch in ‘Late Summer’. The name first appeared again courtesy of EvLeaks who leaked the name back in April. We’re right into Summer in the US, so it should only be another couple of months before we see the official announcement.

UPDATE
EvLeaks has produced a followup to his original post. The followup gives the source of the leak, a case for American carrier Verizon Wireless. The brochure also lists the case as for the Motorola Victara, which has been cited as the code-name for the Motorola X+1.

It does indeed look like a Moto E render, this was discussed at great length here at Ausdroid behind the scenes. We’ll have to wait and see what happens when the Moto X+1 is released.
