google store

Sneaking in overnight, Google has launched a new way to get your hands on the latest of its wares, including phones, tablets, Chromecasts, Android Wear watches, and more. The Google Store replaces the Play Store, and presents the information about the things you can buy in a much more modern, accessible way. The bonus news? At the moment, just about everything is showing in stock, and better still, there’s a range of shipping options including free shipping, or you can pay a little extra to have your goodies delivered more quickly.

Through the Google Store, you can access the following products:

  • Phones, which for the moment means the Nexus 6
  • Tablets, such as the Nexus 9 tablet
  • Chromecast dongles (but no sign of Nexus Player just yet)
  • Android Wear watches, including LG’s G Watch R and G Watch, and Samsung’s Gear Live
  • Accessories, like Nexus 6 an 9 cases / stands, and some Android Wear accessories too

One obvious omission is Chromebooks and Chromeboxes; there’s none to be seen, and given Chrome is something that Google is pushing and continues to push, leaving them out seems a little .. strange.

The store is not as fulsome as it might otherwise be, but it’s a nice evolution of the Play Store, and it really puts Google’s products (developed with 3rd parties) right in the spotlight, instead of having them hidden behind the layer of the Play Store at first.

You can check it out today, and please let us know what you think.

The layout sucks big time… All nice big graphics that take focus away from buying and just make it a pretty marketing site… nope failure.

It’s almost as if that is their goal… Do you just frequent blogs complaining about everything Google does? I’ve come across your posts a few times.

BTW – I love my Nexus 6.

Have you ben ? Then you would know I don’t complain about everything Google does. If you look closely you will see Google has made some bad decisions of late. This is but one of them, the layout is awful. For the N6 the purchase option is at the top but for the watches it was at the bottom, everything is HUGE and you have to scroll down to find things so far. The idea of the devices in a new site is really good as that suits the lack of devices in Google play app. If you note my… Read more »
