voiceaccess

As the Google I/O 2015 schedule is unveiled, we’ve been browsing through it to find some tidbits, and this one looks exciting. Google is set to talk about a feature called Voice Access, which offers a simple promise: being able to control your phone and interact with apps using only your voice. This takes Google Now to the next level, offering interaction within apps instead of just launching them and searching for content.

There’s not much contained in the schedule about Voice Access, but what we can glean is that using the service will add very little development overhead, and will give users “access to their Android device through voice alone”.

It isn’t yet clear whether this will be backwards compatible through a Play Services update, or whether it’ll be baked into the next version of Android (dubbed, for the moment, Android M).
