Google is pushing for more local business reviews from locals and they’re not afraid to throw some neat prizes at you to entice you.

The Google Local Guides program has advertised the competition, which runs from the 21st of May through to the 11th of June 2015, asking for as many reviews as you can do, with each new review counted as a new entry. The reviews have to qualify as ‘Quality’ reviews, so no one or two line throw aways, they need to be insightful and add a certain something, but Google has listed the types of reviews that will most likely be successful:

  • Originality – how creative or original is your review style?
  • Capturing the spirit of the places – how well do you describe the atmosphere?
  • Unique viewpoints – do you bring unique or different viewpoints?
  • Writing style – how well written is your review?

The major prize for the competition is an Acer Chromebook 13, with a couple of Nexus Player consoles heading to runners up – you can order your own controller once you win.

The competition is open now, so head over to the entry page and click the ‘Enter Contest’ button to get underway. The Terms and Conditions don’t appear to be live as yet, but Google should fix that up shortly, so keep an eye out if you want to check those out before entering.
