The 3rd generation of Fossil Q watches, the Q Venture and Q Explorist arrived on the Fossil website in the US overnight, and while they’re not available to pre-order in Australia yet, they soon will be available to buy.

At the time of launch, not much was known about the devices, but with the models now appearing on the Fossil US website, we can see some more details. The Q Venture is the smaller of the two watches with a 42mm case that’s 11.5mm thin with an 18mm band. The Q Explorist on the other hand has a 44mm case which is 12.6mm thick and supports 22mm bands.

In the US, the Fossil Q Venture starts at $255USD, while the Fossil Q Explorist starts at $275, though both models have options with leather and metal bands which let you option them up in look and price.

The watches are the first Fossil Q watches to offer a fully round display – that’s right, no flat tyre. They’re powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 2100 SoC with 512MB of RAM and have 4GB of storage. They’re also IP67 rated, so you should be fine showering or swimming while wearing the watches. They also include Bluetooth 4.1 Low Energy, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n and offer ‘all day battery life’.

What they don’t have are some features that are becoming more relevant for Android Wear users, with no NFC listed for Android Pay. Fitness junkies will be displeased with the lack of heart rate sensor or GPS, however they will track steps taken, distance travelled and calories burned through sensors.

The watches will be available in retail stores later this month, with prices starting at $399 before moving to other Fossil sales channels in September/October.
