After rolling out a new and, they say improved, version of Google Feed to US users in July, Google has today announced that Australians will start seeing the improved Google Feed.

The new feed experience is available in the Google app for Android as well as on iOS in Australia from today.

The Google Feed promises to deliver more news and relevant information to you every time you access it. The stories and information you see in the Google Feed which can include ‘sports highlights, top news, engaging videos, new music, stories to read and more’, takes into account your interactions with Google across all their products, as well as factoring in what’s trending in your area, as well as around the world. As Google says ‘The more you use Google, the better your feed will be.’

Google isn’t pulling sources either, they say that they will provide links to stories with ‘diverse perspectives’. If you find a topic being presented that you’re not particularly keen on though, you can clear it from your interests in the Google App Settings, or by tapping the 3-dot menu on the card.

The Feed will make it easy to follow up on topics, with a new ‘Follow’ button showing up in search results. Tap the ‘Follow’ button after you search ‘Stranger Things’ to see new updates on Stranger Things in the lead up to the new season.

If you have access to the Google Feed, you should be able to access it now. Check it out and start refining your interests to get the most out of it.

I came back to this article to ask advice from the brains trust – like many Google features that have allegedly launched or are launching, my dear old Pixel doesn’t have the new Feed yet.

But reading the comments, it looks like I probably don’t want it anyway. Blah.

Yes not being able to swipe right is the worst decision. Make sure you send your feedback by opening Google Now, click settings then send feedback

Can’t swipe away the rubbish anymore.
My upcoming events and traffic on the drive to work are not showing up as default. I don’t care about news in there.

I don’t want a news feed, I want Google Now.

you can no longer swipe the cards away – its certainly not “improved”

it’s terrible. the interests i had carefully cultivated are all over the shop and not being easily able to swipe stories away is a big step backwards in usability. Looking for alternatives now. Anyone got any suggestions?
