A couple of days ago Evan Blass leaked the Huawei Maimang 6 (G10) and further added that this would be known as the Mate 10 Lite outside of China. Overnight via Weibo Huawei have announced this new phone at a very attractive price.
The Maimang 6 has a 5.9 inch, 2160 x 1080 pixels, 18:9 display on the front of Huawei’s usual unibody metal design. The display is not curved ala the Samsung phones but has 2.5D edges to allow for smooth use. The fingerprint sensor is located on the back of the back and it ouses a 3340mAh battery.
The phone is powered by a Kirin 659 processor as expected along with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage which can be expanded with the included microSD slot. The microSD slot doubles as a second SIM slot as well. The phone, as rumoured will also have dual front and rear cameras with them being 13MP/2MP and 16MP/2MP respectively. It is 156.2 × 75.2 × 7.5mm and weighs in at 164g.
The software is just Android 7.0 Nougat underneath EMUI 5.1 with WiFi b/g/n and Bluetooth 4.2 included. The Huawei Maimang 6 comes in ‘Obsidian Black’, ‘Streamer Gold’ and ‘Aurora Blue’ colors, is priced at 2399 yuan ($454AUD). Preorders begin now and the phone will be available from 28th of September and it is expected to be announced as the Mate 10 Lite in mid October.
At this stage it is unclear whether this phone will arrive on Australian shores as the Mate 10 Lite but it could well help fill out the Mate 10 range, offering a very lost cost alternative to the higher end variants. With all the rumours surrounding this device to be accurate hopefully it also means that the rumours surrounding the other Mate 10 variants are just as spot on.
