HTC have stayed out of the spotlight as of late after their followup flagship from the well-received U11 was delayed for unknown reasons. Now, thanks to Evan Blass reporting for VentureBeat we know what the flagship will be as well as it’s basic specs.

HTC in recent years have decided to cut back on the number of devices they release, instead going for a quality of quantity approach. The king of the hill of all of the devices will be the HTC U12+, according to VentureBeat’s source, “a person familiar with the company’s plans”.

The U12+ will follow the late 2017 trend of minimising the bezels and will sport a 6 inch LCD panel with 18:9 aspect ratio and WQHD+ resolution. The cameras have also been beefed up with the selfie cameras now a dual camera setup of 8MP each. The rear camera setup will also be dual camera, 12MP and 16MP and will be located superior to the fingerprint sensor on the rear.

As expected the HTC U12+ will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 and 6GB of RAM. The storage options will be either 64GB or 128GB. The battery will be a 3420mAh battery. HTC’s Edge Sense hardware and software will once again be included but this time the second generation of the product.

The HTC U12+ is expected to launch in late April or early May of this year — you can bet we will be keeping a very close on it in the lead up to that event. After not having used a HTC-branded device since the HTC Sensation I feel that this could be the year I check out one as a daily driver.

How about you? What will it take for you to carry one of these around every day?
