Armani Exchange has announced a new smartwatch overnight, with the Armani Exchange Connected launching soon running Wear OS.

The Armani Exchange Connected collection, is being launched as a standalone to the already announced Emporio Armani smartwatch. Like the Emporio Armani brand Armani Exchange is a member of the Fossil Group and the specs for this launch seem similar to the newly announced Gen 4 Fossil Q Explorist HR and Venture HR.

The Armani Exchange Connected collection as they’re calling it will come with a 46mm stainless-steel body in four colour options: gold-tone, black, silver and coal packing a 1.19″ display running the Snapdragon Wear 2100 SoC underneath. Like the Gen-4 Fossil Q watches, the Armani Exchange Connected will include NFC for payments including Google Pay for most of the world and AliPay for those in China, there’s also heart-rate monitoring, untethered GPS and it’s swimproof (up to 3atm).

The Armani Exchange Connected runs Wear OS and will also include Google Assistant support allowing you to ask questions and give commands directly from your wrist.

There is only pricing and availability for the US announced at this stage with the watch expected to be available for pre-order on the Armani Exchange website from today. Pricing will start at $295 for the base line, with options scaling up from there.

Not an Apple fan boy at all. In fact I am more of an Android phone. Own a Huawei Watch 2 and pretty much saying that this whole platform is doomed comparing to WatchOS. Really useless relevant to what people get on an Apple watch. No wonder Apple watch sells like butter!

I thought you guys were sworn off Wear OS devices after the recent rant article?

Just because one of us writes an article doesn’t meant we’re all singing from the same hymn book. Equally, just because we agree that some parts of Wear OS are crap doesn’t mean we don’t write up the news.

Is that the new Wear OS chip or the really old one?

Snapdragon Wear 2100 is the one that’s two years old. It’s not the new one.
