Partnering with a high-end sports car company seems to be the new thing for manufacturers, Huawei have partnered with Porsche for some time, while OPPO went with Lamborghini for their Find X launch, now OnePlus has chosen luxury sports car maker McLaren for their partnership, producing the OnePlus 6T McLaren edition.

The OnePlus 6T McLaren edition design is the same design you’ve come to know from the OP6T, though with a flash of ‘Papaya Orange’ colouring normally associated with the sports car brand, integrated in a strip around the carbon fibre look rear panel.

The spec sheet from the ‘standard’ OnePlus 6T remains the same with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor running the show. The major difference being the bump in RAM to an almost insane 10GB – no memory management issues here – as well as the inclusion of what OnePlus are calling ‘Warp Charge’.

Warp Charge is a super-fast way to charge your phone, with almost a full days charge (50% capacity of the 3,700mAh battery) in just 20 minutes – all of which happens with the phone remaining cool while charging.

There’s no good news for Australian OnePlus fans with the launch of the OnePlus 6T McLaren edition, with the phone launching in North America and Western Europe from December 13th for $699, followed by a launch in China, India, and other locations soon after where it will be priced at €699 / £649.

This won’t be a one-off partnership either, with OnePlus and McLaren agreeing to a long-term exclusive partnership, so be prepared for more editions to launch.
