For those of you with a G Suite account, you’d be well versed in the idiosyncrasy of Google’s paid offering. Up front, you’d think oh, Google has a paid productivity service it must be better right?
Well if what you’re after is full access to all of Google’s features the answer is a resounding no. Google’s never been clear why their G Suite offering doesn’t support many of Google’s products and features, is it because the platform is incompatible, is it because of security concerns for larger customers?
For those using a G Suite account as their primary account it can be frustrating, today Google has removed one of those frustrations with G Suite Calendar integration coming to the Google Assistant. Yes, just like those people not paying money for the service G Suite customers can now ask Assistant what’s on their calendar.
The feature is in beta at the moment and we’re not sure if it needs to be activated via the console or not, so if you don’t control your own account you may still be out of luck. If you can get it working it will be the same experience as a typical Assistant integration.
It will work on Phones, Smart Speakers and Smart Displays, if you’re a G Suite user why not ask Google “What’s next on my calendar”, it just might work now.
We use G Suite at Ausdroid quite extensively, so we’ll be looking forward to this feature working pretty soon.
