Google is clearly gearing up to an announcement with lots of news coming out this week. The launch of the Nest Hub Max in Australia for one, and now it seems Google’s been tinkering with Assistant to improve the way it gives information to Android users. Ahead of a Pixel 4 launch, maybe?
Google says it has been working on ways to make Assistant even better and more useful on the device that’s with you when you go out – your phone. Truth be told, though, this change has been in the pipeline for a while – since April in fact, when we first covered the announcement. Back then, however, the feature hadn’t actually made it to Australia and wouldn’t do for a couple of months.
From today, though, it’s here. Here’s a quick refresher:
This update includes results with cards that clearly present the key information you’re looking for. In addition to a new interface for categories like events, you’ll also get access to useful tools like the tip calculator, metronome music pacer and bubble level. Ask your Assistant for ‘Events in Melbourne” or “Why is grass green?” to check out some of these new responses.
For some questions, the most helpful response might be showing you links to a variety of sources from across the web to learn more. In these cases, you’ll see the full set of search results from the web. When relevant, these results may include the existing ads that you’d see on Search today.
