We have been able to use controllers such as the PS4 Dual Shock controller and Xbox One Controller on Android device for quite some time and now it seems that the new Nintendo Switch Pro Controller is supported by Android 10.

Way back in June, very quietly at most, a commit was added to the AOSP that gave Android gamepad mappings for the Nintendo Switch Pro Controller joining the Switch Joy-Cons on the supported list. This key layout file allows the Android OS and the game itself to recognise the controller buttons and then map these buttons to functions in the game.

To use the Pro Controller with your Android 10 device you will need to first disconnect it from your Switch and then re-pair it to your Android device using Bluetooth settings. While the buttons are inconsistent with what you would normally expect Android Police report that the controller is still fully functional, listing a few games that support the new Nintendo Switch Pro Controller: Modern Combat 5, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas and Minecraft.

If you have a Nintendo Switch and their Pro Controller why not give this a shot and see what you think. Let us know in the comments below whether this is something you will use — have you ever used a gaming controller with your Android device?
