We all thought that when Google announced their acquisition of Fitbit late last year we would not see many more Fitbit devices and instead we may start seeing Google devices instead. Fitbit, possibly because the acquisition is yet to be approved by regulatory bodies, though have other ideas and three new Fitbit devices have leaked overnight.
Fitbit Versa 3
The new Fitbit Versa 3 looks to build upon the success of the previous two generations but add a few handy features. The new features include inbuilt GPS and what appears to be Google Assistant support. The big difference design-wise is the lack of any physical buttons on the watch with what appears to be a touch sensitive area instead.
Fitbit Sense
The Fitbit Sense looks to be the higher end version of the smartwatch family here. While it has the same design language as the Versa 3 it appears to have added software functionality. The extra functionality appears to be full ECG support and Google Assistant support. The Sense will likely be their premium product.
Fitbit Inspire 2
The Fitbit Inspire 2 looks to be very similar to its predecessor and offer the same basic fitness tracking capabilities. Speculation is rife that the pending Google acquisition of Fitbit will cause the previous Alexa integration to be nixed in favour of Google Assistant. It would not surprise us if this was the case.
All of the above devices will most likely be released later this year with the small incremental improvements stop-gap enhancements before Google take over and hopefully make us all the perfect Pixel Watch we have been calling out for for years.
