Amazon announces the next version of Kindle Paperwhite readers, including Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition with wireless charging

Not only does Alexa now speak Aussie, but Amazon’s been busy with some new Kindle Paperwhite readers, and they sound like a good upgrade over the previous generation. There’s a new one, too, in the form of the Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition.

So, what’s new?

The Kindle Paperwhite range has been the most popular variety of Kindle since the readers first came to Australia years ago. While the pricing has barely changed, the technology sure has – premium hardware, faster performance and a vastly improved user interface make the latest Paperwhite range worth a look.

Both the new Kindle Paperwhite and Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition feature a larger 6.8-inch glare-free display, with an additional 10% brightness, adjustable warm light and a white-on-black dark mode to offer flexibility for reading any time.

The Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition also comes with an auto-adjusting front light that automatically adapts the brightness of the display based on the lighting around you so you can comfortably read in all conditions from bright sunlight to a darkened bedroom just before bed.

They last longer, too – both new devices now offer up to 10 weeks of battery life from a single charge, charge in as little as 2.5 hours and are designed to withstand accidental drops in the bathtub, pool, and ocean so if you’re a bathtime reader, you won’t risk killing your book if you drop it in the tub!

The Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition is also the first Kindle to offer wireless charging and can be used with any compatible Qi wireless charger.

On top of the new features, there’s the new Kindle user interface too, which brings easier switching between your home screen, your library and the book you’re reading, and a better library experience to filter through larger collections to find exactly what you want to read. Some of the new features are available today, and some will be coming a little later in the year.
