We’ve previously seen plenty of information about the ear(1) from Nothing. After successfully launching — the device sold out — their first deivce, the ear(1) we’re now getting a glimpse of a new matte black option.
Keeping true to the first run presentation, the case is transparent with a smoke finish to the cover. The earbuds carry the same feature set and price (US$99) as the original, white version. Perhaps, in our current world climate, the more important announcement was that Nothing has made the manufacture of the ear(1) carbon neutral.
Co-Founder and CEO, Carl Pei said:
Nothing is here to make a positive difference. Our newly carbon neutral ear (1) is the first step in our journey to sustainability, With ear (1) we’ve proven that new ideas, from design to distribution, can resonate with users and bring back the sense of excitement that’s been lacking in our industry. We hope this black edition raises a few more eyebrows in the months to come and that more tech brands add carbon transparency labelling to their products.
The device’s packaging is said to carry notes around the carbon neutral approach which was achieved through consultation with multiple third parties with the aim of helping consumers buy smart: With their wallets, while keeping future generations in mind.
You’ll be able to pick up a pair from nothing.tech on December 13th for US$99.00
