Well, it’s now summer in Australia so that means the heat is coming. Unfortunately, it also means a lot more allergens in the air and potential contaminants. A warm and windy day means huge pollen counts, which isn’t great for people — like me — who suffer from allergies or other respiratory issues. Even the dreaded bushfires affecting people are likely to happen if you’re in fringe areas or if we’re unfortunate enough to have large-scale fires again.

Philips has delivered a remarkably intelligent device that meets two needs: The AI-powered Air Performer 7000 Series 2-in-1 Air Purifier and Fan. It is exactly as the name suggests, an air purifier and fan built into a single unit.

The RRP of $799.00 isn’t a cheap device, but with what it offers in terms of clean air, the value is pretty good. You can control the device, as well as actively monitor the air quality in your home through the Air+ app. This gives you visibility, too, of the state of your filters and whether they require cleaning or replacement.

The Air Performer 7000 series will give you coverage of up to 70m2 and removes 99.97% of particulate matter. In English, that means dust, pollen, mould spores, gases and odours are removed on an ongoing basis leaving you with fresh and clean air in your home or work. Compared to other basic air purifiers, this also has the advantage of being a fan. This gives it a great advantage in that it is more efficient for airflow and cooling down living space.

Having had — review coming soon… — a different Air Purifier unit from Philips in my living space for a month or so now, I can confirm that they’re very quiet. It’s barely noticeable at night as all lights turn off, but the unit will continue to provide you with clean air throughout your sleep.
