Ring has launched its latest device in the video doorbell range, offering 1536p HD Head-to-Toe Video and colour night vision; while maintaining all of the well known features from other devices. Meet the Ring Battery Video Doorbell Plus.

The new offering brings a number of improvements over previous generations of hardware including the 150 x 150 degree viewing angle which complements the highest resolution on any Ring doorbell. This aligns with the DORI (Detection, Observation, Recognition and Identification) model that we’ve previously covered. What the means ultimately is that no longer, can someone stand close to your doorbell and hide items below their waist, or delivered packages being left out of view.

When talking about the Battery Video Doorbell Plus, Jason Mitura, Ring Chief Product Officer said:

When we first imagined the video doorbell concept more than 10 years ago, we knew that choosing a battery power source would meet the needs of the widest variety of customers possible. Today, we’re excited to announce the launch of Ring Battery Video Doorbell Plus, the most significant update yet to our battery-powered family, with energy-saving features resulting in a battery life that is up to three times better than our first Ring Video Doorbell,

As mentioned, it also brings over features that Ring users know and love including:

  • Live View with Two-Way Talk
  • Motion Detection (some features included through a subscription) with real-time notifications
  • Customisable Motion and Privacy Zones
  • Quick replies if you can’t, or don’t want to answer the door

Easily integrating with Alexa-powered devices — Matter integration is coming for cameras — for quick visibility outside your home this is an evolutionary step for DIY home security.

The new device will be available in Australia for AU$289.00 or with Ring Chime for AU$309.00 starting on April 13th via Amazon and Ring.com. Retailers will have stock available from mid-May.
