Google’s upcoming Smart Display they’re calling the Home Hub has been leaking steadily over the last couple of weeks, now we’ve managed to get our hands on a higher resolution image of the chalk coloured model.
The Home Hub in this press render gives us another look at the Home Hub from the front, though there’s still no sign of a front-facing camera on the bezel of the display just a couple of sensors on the top, one of which is an ambient light sensor. As we’ve seen previously we can see the fabric base continues around from the back of the Home Hub to the front, at the bottom and the angle of the screen remains slightly tilted up making it easy to view on a bench.
The Home Hub will include a 7″ touch capable display, with dual-band 2.4GHz/5GHz 802.11ac WiFi and Bluetooth inside and weigh in at 480grams according to previous leaks. The Home Hub includes a mute switch on the rear of the unit for privacy which covers both the camera input and mutes the mic on the Lenovo, JBL and LG Smart Displays, so it’s possible the camera could be covered in all the renders we’ve seen so far.
Pricing wise it’s believed that the Home Hub will be priced at $149 but there’s no information on if or when the unit will launch on our shores.
We saw a device head through the FCC last week with the model # HA1 which we believe to be the Home Hub, confirming some of the above details, but we’ll know a lot more about it when it’s announced at the Made by Google Event on October 9th.

Could the camera be hidden somewhere? Google couldn’t possibly have forgotten to put a camera in. Nobody’s going to buy it if there’s no camera. And what’s the idea of having a cloth texture for a device that’s likely going to be placed in a kitchen? Google, you can do better than that.
