Most people are familiar with Firefox, with many users of Chrome coming across from the open-source web browser at some stage, with many floating back and forth as features and performance vary. The option to Chromecast from Firefox was announced earlier this year, and it seems that Firefox for Android is first of the rank, with Mozilla adding the feature to their nightly builds.

The APK for the Firefox nightly build is available to download from the Mozilla Nightly Builds page. Once installed – yes, you have to sideload the APK (open Settings > Security > Tick ‘Unknown Sources) – you can test out the Chromecast functions from the Mozilla Chromecast Video test page. You should see a Chromecast icon on the video screen if available and you’re basically ready to go.

So that means Firefox for Android is finally getting WebRTC support?

The desktop version has had it for a while, so I guess it’s not a big jump. Still no sign of apple catching up though (or IE, natch)
