Often at CES we see crazy products that will never actually see the light of day, let alone actually make it to Australia. When I saw the Sony VPL-VZ1000ES ultra short throw 4K HDR home theatre projector announced I immediately dismissed it as a never coming to Australia product, and I was wrong. Sony Australia has confirmed that their latest high-end ultra short throw projector will be coming to Australia in April.
The projector measures in at 92.5 x 49.4 x 21.9 cm and a rather heafty 35KG and can sit just 15CM away from the wall giving a 120″ display. The lighting is provided by a Z-Phosphor laser capable of 2,500 lumens of light and a wide colour gamut and contrast ratio. Before you contact your local high-end installer to see if they are going to be stocking this bad boy, you may want to sit down.
Priced at $25,000 USD that would equate to around $32,750 without any increase in price for local shipping, taxes or other costs. So this is definitely a device for the uber wealthy who just must have the best of the best, regardless of price. Would it be awesome for that cost? You betch ya, but somewhow I don’t think my wife will let me have one.
Never worry, Sony is also bringing a great range of Android TV powered OLED and LED TV’s downunder as well.
I have got to win that lottery. I need this.
