It shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone that we love our tunes at Ausdroid, and many of us have invested significant amounts of money in Sonos hardware as a result.
Sonos overnight dropped some new hardware that warrants a closer look. They’re made by Sonance, which means they’re aimed at installations rather than the shelf speakers for which Sonos is known.
The new speaker options are:
- Sonos In-Wall by Sonance ($899 AUD/pair)
- Sonos In-Ceiling by Sonance ($899 AUD/pair)
- Sonos Outdoor by Sonance ($1199 AUD/pair)
If you couple the new speakers with the brand new (but previously reported) redesigned Amp, then you’ve got yourself a seriously impressive setup.
Sonos Amp will automatically recognise the architectural speakers and optimise its output to create brilliant sound right out of the box. Taking things one step further, the In-Wall and In-Ceiling speakers will be the first third-party speakers to be Trueplay compatible, making the fine tune adjustments required during custom installation more seamless than ever before.
Perhaps more importantly, by connecting the speakers to the Sonos Amp you’re getting all of the streaming services that Sonos have throughout your home. You also have the capability to run your TV sound through the amp to make your viewing experience more immersive, hook up your other source units such as a turntable, AirPlay 2 compatibility and 125W per channel.
The new indoor speakers will be available for pre-order from the Sonos site today, shipping (and available from retailers) as of the 26th of February and the outdoor option will begin sales in April.
So you can get VP6*Rs and Mariners from Sonos now lol..
What installers already were using just got the consumer market..
