Last year Nvidia added full Google Assistant voice control to their Shield TV and now it appears that more Android TVs will be receiving the same Google Assistant love.

Recently Android Police noticed that the Play TV shows & movies using Google Home support had changed where is said “The following Cast devices can play TV shows and movies using voice commands with Google Home:”. Google had, at the time, added:

Android TV
Note: You will need to set up Google Assistant on your Android TV.

This meant that you could, if Google Assistant was installed on your Android TV, it could be controlled by your Google Home. Unfortunately that did not last with this whole feature experiencing a few issues.

Google have since removed this addition to the list with only Chromecast and TVs with Chromecast built-in being able to use voice commands on their Google Home to play TV shows and movies on the TV.

The good news is that Google have it just about ready but obviously are planning on ironing out a few bugs before releasing it (again) to the public.

Do you want to be able to control your TV with your Google Home? Having used it on an Nvidia Shield I can say that it is extremely handy.

Maybe they should add it to their own TV and Movies app too?
