$99 G Watch Offer
After watching enviously as US and UK residents celebrated their ‘Black Friday’ sales with discounts on hardware in Google Play, it appears Google has also extended the discount to the LG G Watch on Google Play.

Google is offering the G Watch in White Gold and Black Titan for just $99 + shipping between the 7th and 11th of December(or while supplies last). Normally priced at $249, that’s a $150 discount, not bad by anyones definition. For comparison, the cheapest retail price you’ll find the G Watch for is around $195 at Officeworks or JB Hifi.

There’s of course a delivery fee on top of the price, but there’s two options offering slightly faster shipping for those wanting the watch a little quicker. Both options leave the warehouse within 1-2 Days, but the Standard shipping option for $15 will take between 3-5 business days. If you’re willing to pay an additional $8 on top ($23), you can get International Priority shipping which will have the watch on your doorstep in 1-3 business days.

You can read our review of the LG G Watch here, and if you decide you want to check out Android Wear for yourself, then head over to Google Play and get your order in.

It’s tempting, but I’ve been hearing mixed things about the G Watch, and android wear in general. I might wait a gen or two for the hardware and software to be fine-tuned and pick one up later down the track.

So, can i price match with officeworks?

Daniel Tyson

Take shipping into consideration as well, so they’ll probably take 5% off that. Could be a good deal. Also, immediate delivery 😉

Joshua Hill

Has anyone tried this? When I had a look at officeworks website it says it’s only available online, delivery or click and collect. Maybe my local store is out of stock?

Also they only stock the black model.

Jamie Saltmarsh

I went into Officeworks and this item is “online only” so not able to price match.

“How do I redeem my 5% reduction?

You can redeem the Lowest Price Guarantee (LPG) by visiting your local Officeworks store, by fax or phoning in. You can not redeem the LPG via our online store.

Joshua Hill

Thanks, saved me a wasted trip this afternoon.

( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Thanks for posting this. Snapped one up straight away!

Add in $50 play credit and I’m sold..

Chris Croft

Do you still get $50 Play Store credit?

Daniel Tyson

That was US only unfortunately. No Play Store Credit with these purchases as far as I can see.

Chris Croft

That what I thought

Joshua Hill

I’d have settled for $20 AU of credit.

good

Shano

Just bought 2. Not exactly what I wanted, but nice Xmas pressie to play with. I love tech. Thanx Dan you are the man. Wadaya tink SkeniJunk

Shano

Until then I should read that review, hope they are alright.

chris

Jeni will have a negative comment, he always does however Jeni can sometimes have good points of view just covered up by the negativity.

Shano

Yes true enough.

JeniSkunk

Chris, I’m waiting for the Asus ZenWatch.

Shano

What will you do with this lump of silicon & plastic that you can’t set up to do anything.

JeniSkunk

Shano, I can’t buy ANY Android wear device, until I have a compatible Android phone and/or tablet.

Shano

Yes

JeniSkunk

No real point in thinking about buying it even at this bargain basement price, Shano.
Right now, I’ve no BT4 BLE capable devices, nor ones running KitKat.

So without any devices to pair the watch to, I’d be buying basically a lump of silicon and plastic that I could not set up to do anything.

chris

Good point, I really do hope you find the device with specs/price you want, would be so nice to hear Jeni found it…

JeniSkunk

chris, I would LOVE to be able to say that I *HAVE* found a device I can buy.

Right now, I’m hoping that either Moto will release a 4G Moto G gen 2 to the Australian market, or that the need to unlock the bootloader of the Sony Xperia Z3 devices to get root will be solved.
But yeah, at the moment as it’s been for the past 2 years now, it’s wait and watch.

MrBph

I have been waiting for this to justify giving android wear a go.
At $150 off its a steal, much better then justifying the far more costly LG R and Moto offerings.

Joshua Hill

Given androidwear devices lack of battery life I don’t think any of them can be justified at more than one hundred odd dollars no matter how stylish they look.

Avon Perera

I love my Pebble battery life, but it’s not something I want to wear out to functions, that’s why I bought a Moto 360. Horses for courses.

Joshua Hill

Mostly agree. It would be extra nice if we had one device that did both though. If it’s solely for fashion I’ll stick with a genuine Swiss watch.

Avon Perera

True, but I still want the notifications and functionality of a smartwatch even in those circumstances so i’m not constantly checking my phone for phantom vibrations

Joshua Hill

According to new research apparently 70% of Australians are tired by too much screen time. If I’m dressed up for something its one of the few times I can reduce my screen time. I’d much rather enjoy whatever I’m dressed up for than be constantly checking my watch or phone.

Avon Perera

Not arguing with the reasoning, or logic but that statistic doesn’t reflect my personal opinion/priorities. Like I said, horses for courses. I will concede that my pebble fills the spot of a regular watch much more closely and is better suited to hiking trips and everyday life.
