Though announced by Google earlier this month, the actual rollout of Android Wear 2.0 isn’t progressing to existing Android Wear watches just yet. While many companies haven’t announced rollout schedules, overnight the Asus social media team has given a timeframe for the update to hit the Zenwatch 2 and and 3.
The update is from the Asus North America feed who responded to a question from a customer enquiring about the update for the Zenwatch 2. Asus replied:
Hey Joel — the Android Wear 2.0 roll-out start date was last week, however, AW 2.0 will not come to the ZW 2/3 till early Q2.

The Zenwatch 2 and Zenwatch 3 are just two of a number of watches in line to receive the Android Wear 2.0 update, an update which brings many new features like improved fitness tracking, support for Android Pay on watches with NFC, standalone apps and app store and more.
The update seems to be aimed at the same time as Polar who announced their Android Wear 2.0 update for the M600 will be coming in Spring, so it’s possible the broader Android Wear 2.0 update for older watches will begin around the same time.
