LG TabBook 11
LG isn’t one to shy away from a form-factor, they have the scale and facilities to really try out anything to see what happens and that seems to be what they’re doing with the TabBook 11, an 11.6″ Android Powered tablet witha sliding keyboard.

The TabBook is destined for the Korean market only at this stage, with the announcement made on the LG Korean site. It’s a fairly large device with an 11.6″ slider keyboard arrangement which appears to detach when not required so you can carry around a decidedly over-sized tablet.

Specs wise, the tablet is a monster. The tablet comes with an intel i5 processor, 4GB of RAM and 128GB SSD – it’s essentially what a Chromebook should be, but running Android. The screen is touch optimised as you’d expect for an Android device which is obviously a touch driven OS.

  • 11.6″ Full HD 1920×1080 IPS Display
  • 2.6GHz 4th generation Intel Core i5 4200U CPU with 3MB Cache
  • Intel HD Graphics 4400
  • 4GB RAM
  • 128GB SSD with microSD Card slot
  • USB 3.0 (2 pc) / standard HDMI
  • Snow White
  • Android 4.2.2 (Jelly Bean)
  • 286x192x16.7mm @ 1.05kg

Disappointingly it will be released with Android 4.2, and we’d fully expect to see the TabBook feature the LG Software UI from their phones, although how many of the newer features such as KnockCode and more will be included.

No word on pricing at this stage but it’s an interesting development and with that much power we’d love to get our hands on one to see exactly how fast it is.
