Google has been selling Chromeboxes for Work since early in 2014, the compact form factor allowed a lot of functionality for virtual meetings at a decent cost. Google has moved on to an all-in-one solution now, introducing the Acer Chromebase for work.
The 24″ Chromebase features a full touch-screen and will let you ‘collaborate and meet over video from a dedicated device at home, your desk at work or a phone room’. As a meeting device, the Chromebase also includes an adjustable HD camera integrated into the system as well as 4 microphones and 2 stereo speakers.
From the looks of things, this could be based on the Acer Chromebase 24 launched at CES earlier this year. That Chromebase included an Intel Core processor, with 8GB of DDR3 RAM as wll as 802.11ac wireless or Gigabit Ethernet connections – but so far we haven’t been able to confirm these specs.
The Acer Chromebase will start at $799USD and is available in the US, Canada, UK, Ireland and Australia. The fee includes management and support fees for one year and as an introductory offer, you can try two Chromebases for 30 days and purchase them for $549USD each with the year of management and support included.
