The Acer Aspire Vero range is sustainable and environmentally responsible. As we previously highlighted, the range has recyclable packaging and uses post-consumer recycled (PCR) plastics.
The expanded range includes two (both 14 and 15 inch options) new laptops, an all-in-one desktop, two monitors, a keyboard, a mouse and even a projector. That’s a huge investment in continued environmental responsibilities from the company.
Jerry Kao, Co-COO, Acer Inc said:
We’re pleased to continue to deliver on our Earthion mission to tackle environmental issues with novel solutions and greener products by rounding out our Vero line. In addition to new PC and monitor models, our Vero mix now extends to peripherals and projectors to offer a wider breadth of sustainably-designed products that decrease waste and carbon output without compromising performance.
Laptop and desktop options
Both models carry 12th Gen Intel Core processors, Intel Iris Xe graphics and are designed with simplicity of upgrades in mind. The connectivity is impressive, offering combinations of USB 3.2 Type A, Thunderbolt and Wi-Fi 6. The chassis contains 30% PCR and the keycaps are 50% PCR making them one of the market leaders in sustainable material sources.
For users who prefer the look and feel of a desktop machine, you’ve not been left out. The Veriton Vero is an all-in-one desktop option. Somewhat similar in presentation to an iMac, the 24-inch FHD IPS display can either stand-alone or be VESA mounted for space saving. It’s built from 30% PCR and again, the packaging is 100% recyclable.
Powered by a 12th Gen Intel Core i9 processor, two M.2 SSDs of up to 2 TB storage, an NVIDIA GeForce MX550 GPU and — SKU dependent — up to 64 GB of dual-channel DDR4 3200 MHz memory it’s not lacking grunt either. Having the same connectivity options as the laptops, there’s no shortage of data processing or transmission power.
Input peripherals
The Vero Mouse and Keyboard are made from 65% PCR and feature huge battery life. Acer claims the battery life to be in the range of 5 million clicks for the keyboard and approximately 18 months for the mouse. Of course, there will be a number of variables in this, but it’s impressive nonetheless. Both devices are said to be “near silent” which makes them ideal for open office spaces, or shared home working spaces versus the ultra-clicky mechanical keyboards on the market.
Display options
The crowning features here are the 85% PCR use, 5% ocean-bound plastic and the eyesafe certified panels. In the case of the 27-inch screen, there’s also an inbuilt KVM (Keyboard Video Mouse) switch, allowing users to change between machines quickly and easily, with power delivery for laptops also provided.
Finally, the Vero PD2325W projector is an interesting proposition. It fuses 50% PCR, a lamp that provides up to 30,000 hours of use and being LED based, a significant power saving. At 2,200 lumens the 1280 x 800 resolution will be more than enough to play movies, or stream content into your living space.
We’re awaiting Australian pricing and availability on most of the new Vero range. That being said, we expect them to be competitively priced based on Acer’s market position and drive to capture more of the local market.
