Google Drive is a real time and effort saver, allowing users to access their documents, spreadsheets and slide shows alongside general file storage space. Web and mobile interfaces make it more and more functional for everyone, but until today there has been a bit of a draw back to the mobile interface – if you were sent a link to a document or file that your Google account didn’t have access to, you simply got a “You do not have permission to access this document” message with no way to remedy the problem.
That’s changed today, with a post on the Google Apps Blog telling us that an update rolling out to mobile users “now” allows users to request permission to access such resources. Its a minor but much-needed addition that will aid those of us who work with a lot of documents on our mobile devices, especially if you use multiple accounts.
In Google’s usual fashion, the update is being distributed via a staged rollout, so it may be a few days before you see it.
