Huawei’s widely anticipated Huawei P10 will be arriving in Australia at the end of this month, on 25 May, but it’s bringing with it a pleasant surprise; the Huawei P10 Plus.

The Huawei P10 was always destined for Australia following its launch at Mobile World Congress earlier this year, but the big news is that its larger, more powerful brother is coming too. The best bit? The pricing is really sharp, with the Huawei P10 starting at $899, and the P10 Plus starting at $1,099.

We gave the Huawei P10 a hugely successful rating when I reviewed it, noting it was probably the best mobile announced at MWC, and likely to be the best competitor to Samsung’s Galaxy S8. The P10 Plus takes that a step further, with some welcome additional features and stronger specifications, including a very, very capable camera.

The Huawei P10 Plus features the Leica Dual-Camera 2.0 Pro Edition. This includes new SUMMILUX-H Leica lenses with a larger F/1.8 aperture and higher optical capability. These versatile lenses capture sharp close-ups, quick action shots and more light in low-light conditions.

Availability

The P10 will be available in three colours in Australia. Graphic Black, Dazzling Blue (exclusive to Optus) and Gold (exclusive to Vodafone). The Dazzling Blue was developed in conjunction with the Pantone Colour Institute and features a hyper diamond-cut finish that adds a stunning glow effect. You have to see one of these in person to really appreciate just how fine that colour is.

The Huawei P10 will be available from Optus, Vodafone and Virgin Mobile, with the possibility of some retailers as well, with the price set at $899 for the 4GB RAM / 64GB storage model. Because this is with carriers, it will be the single-SIM variant.

The P10 Plus will be available in just the one colour — Graphite Black — and will be on sale from JB HiFi, Harvey Norman and selected retailers from $1,099 for the 6GB RAM / 128GB storage model with dual-SIM capability.

In the meantime, please check out our review of the Huawei P10, and we look forward to bringing you a review of the Huawei P10 Plus soon!

Really

will the Australia phones be lacking the oleophobic coating like the overseas models were?

Really

Found another story stating new phones do indeed have the coating.

Samsung’s idiotic curved screen is a deal breaker for me.

Don’t knock it till you’ve tried it. I love my S8’s curved display. Its very functional to pull up often used apps quickly and it looks great when playing a video. They now have screen protectors and cases that fit perfectly and work in harmony with each other too.

Better don’t buy Huawei phone at the moment, p10 has some memory and storage issue. Not sure it’s only in China or worldwide. But Chinese customers refuse to buy it now.

If you want to good quality phone and don’t care price go for S8, otherwise buy Xiaomi 6.

P10 plus from a carrier would be good but doesn’t look to be happening. Oh well.

Sucks that Aus doesn’t get the green one.

Big retro bezels and home button.
The LG G6 and the Samsung S8 have made everything else look old.
Also these Huawei phones are overpriced.

My comment about Huawei changing hardware specs for P10 & P10 plus and releasing lower spec’d versions (DDR3 instead of DDR4, eMMC flash instead of faster UFS2.1) has been deleted. Why?
I thought Android community should know about what dirty games Huawei plays.

Thanks.
I think Ausdroid should contact Huawei to find out which of the three revisions of P10/plus Australians will be getting.
Hopefully, they’ll release P10/P10 Plus with UFS2.1 Flash and DDR4 RAM.

You are right, this issue is quite common in China now and I think Australia will have the same issue. Better to withhold.

IT Enquirer

I would consider the P10 Plus ONLY if Huawei guarantee it will have DDR4 RAM and UFS2.1 flash.

Does galaxy s8 or iPhone 7 Plus or G6 have ddr4 and ufs2.1?
