Vodafone announced via Twitter yesterday that the 2.3.6 Gingerbread update for the Galaxy Tab 7″ is now available to download. According to the Vodafone Blog the update has been available to download via Kies since Friday the 13th of January. The update brings the Tab 7 software up to date with the latest Gingerbread enhancements and also includes an update to the Navigon navigation software. Unfortunately there is still no word from Samsung on the status of an Android 4.0 update for the Galaxy Tab, which quite frankly i’m not holding my breath for, still i’d love to be proven wrong, the ball is in your court Samsung make me wrong.

there is no feature in the settings to even check for updatesD
As far as i know, the latest version for Telstra is 2.3.3 (GINGERBREAD.DVJP4), and to update to it you need to use the Samsung Kies program.
