Have you been meaning to lodge an issue about something in your community with your local council but never remember to do it when you get home? Then Snap Send Solve is here to help, this app from Outware Mobile has been out on Android since at least June last year and is hovering in the 1,000 to 5,000 installs range.

The app which looks to be a straight iOS port is fairly easy to use, it works out your location via GPS and fills in your local councils details, the app then fills in the details in a form which you then email to your local council with any photos you wish to add attached.

Issues that can be reported from within the app are pretty much all covered from Litter to overhanging Trees through to submitting general requests or feedback. Although as Jason pointed out, as a cyclist a category to point out issues with roads specifically would be good, although this would most likely be handled under General feedback.

As a runner I tend to have a lot of issues with overhanging gardens and trees on the footpath so I have lodged a couple of emails with my local council already and these have been sent on to the relevant department so my local council has definitely received the feedback and actioned it initially anyway.

There does appear to be an issue with the location side of things though with the request I tried to send refusing to send because my location was invalid even though the address that the GPS came up with was correct, after entering the location manually it was then able to send so not too big a drama.

The app is free to download for devices running Android 2.1 and up, it’s a 1.1MB Download so won’t be terribly over burdening on your general data allowance. I found it useful and would recommend you try it out too.

Oh god I have had this as an app idea for AGES. Didn’t know it existed. I’m one of those people who sees every little thing.. a broken drain cover here, a tree needing trimming there! 😀

    Good idea 🙂

Great app. As mentioned, a little old now. App notifications to councils seem to get more notice than calls to council (if you can find right one).
A few issues i’ve had. a) uses default phone gmail account only rather than prefered email/profile. b) job that are handballed by first council tend to be closed off and no abilty for system to reallocate to next party/council. 1 job went to council, then land owner (cemetery) then local water co, then Melb water. All needed my follow up manually.
1 bad case, several successful cases resolved.

This is a similar app thats been around for ages (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.pepperstack.neatstreets), I don’t like the fact that you have to be anonymous to their web site as they keep “losing” my reports as my phone changes or gets factory reset.

Why does the headline say “released” when you acknowledge in the first paragraph that it has been around since June last year?
