After announcing that an Android version of their popular Foxtel Go app would be released to Samsung Android devices on the 3rd of June, it appears that the launch date has been and gone, and the app is still not available. A search of both Samsung’s own App Store and Google Play on Galaxy S III and Galaxy S 4 devices shows no results.
Ausdroid approached Samsung Australia to enquire about the app’s status and launch plans, and was advised the enquiry should be directed to Foxtel.
A number of customers have taken to the Foxtel Facebook page to ask about the whereabouts of the app. Foxtel has been answering the queries with the same reply, indicating that it is coming, but requires more testing:
We’re busily testing the android version of Foxtel Go but it’s taking a bit longer than we hoped. We will let viewers know via social media so keep an eye on our page
It appears that the app will eventually arrive, but a launch date has yet to be set.
You can follow Foxtel on their social media channels, including Facebook, Twitter and Google+ where they should announce the availability of the app as soon as it’s ready.
Are you looking forward to the Android version of Foxtel Go? Let us know in the comments!
Samsung only until November then all other android devices according to foxtel, I’m tipping the release comes after end of afl season as now fox go can stream fox footy which is bad for the afl app.
What about Sony.Tablets????
I have had the app on ipad since end of last year. It is still full of bugs and crashes like crazy. I am not surprised it is late. The outcry from users has been huge. My daughter has a Samsung tablet and is hanging out for the app.
Only samsung devices? and no tablets?
That’s correct; it’ll be released exclusively through Samsung Apps (just like Seven’s PLUS7)
well thats bloody stupid
Why? Samsung throw some money Foxtels way; Samsung has yet another advantage over the competitors and can easily use it as a selling point. 😉
Don’t worry, I’m sure Ausdroid will do the right thing and release the APK out to everyone. We’re just beta testing for Foxtel!
