Lets be honest. We’ve all done it. We’ve all sent something to the wrong chat window or something you regret sending and wish you could very quickly un-send, leaving no trace that it was ever there. Some applications offer it, and apparently so too will Facebook Messenger.

The report comes from developer Jane Wong, who has previously surfaced work by Google on peer-to-peer payments in Google Pay, and Facebook on a new Nearby Friends interface. Jane has shown off the functionality in a tweet, showing the interface which could be used by Messenger.

While you will be able to un-send it, you’ll only be able to do so within a short time of sending meaning message regret in the morning will still be a real possibility. Deleting messages is still a possibility but the problem is you can remove it for yourself or both parties, but it still leaves a tracker that something was deleted.

At the moment, there is no official acknowledgement of the functionality being in the works. So if you’re a heavy messenger user and get this drop on your phone, make sure you let us know when its live.

What options would you like to see added to Messenger, to make it your first port of call for communications?
