Google is apparently planning to unveil a mysterious gaming project at a Game Developers Conference on March 19th (March 20th here). The company is sending invitations showing just a light at the end of a hallway, with a very cryptic tagline stating “gather around.”

Google hasn’t responded to any requested for additional info. Rumours suggest plans to launch a subscription game streaming service, which might be likely utilising Project Stream.

If so, Google’s goal is pretty simple here. It wants to make a streaming service that offers top-tier games across a bevy of devices, which include device like Chromecast dongles along with other dedicated hardware.

Making this announcement at GDC does make sense, given the company will need to encourage developers to sign up for the service along with potentially optimising their titles for this new gaming platform.
