Google has overnight announced via its blog that it is enabling early access via its browser to track your parcels on those important items you may have just brought online.
The new parcel tracking feature comes after many users tend to frequently come to Google Search looking to find information on the status of their packages. It will enable shipping companies to show the status of their packages they are shipping to customers through the Google Chrome browser.
Google have stated that this new package tracking early adoption program is now available in all countries, including Australia. Shipping companies can now sign up to participate in this feature and give feedback on how to improve the feature going forward.
If you own or work in a shipping company and want to take part in the new package tracking early adoption program, you will need to provide a RESTful JSON or XML API that returns the package tracking information. Google will then work with you to either reuse an existing API or setup a new one. You can sign up to the new package tracking early adoption program, you will need to review the full eligability requirements and criterias along with filling out this form.
It may take a while for all the main parcel movers to get onboard but given time it will be nice to be able to quickly search Google and find the location of your package.
Shame they can’t properly track their own parcels to customers.
Ordered my P4 XL on 29th November and still haven’t received it. Getting different answers from Google and StarTrack (courier) as to what is going on. Extremely frustrating
