We’ve all done it, some people continue to do it and have dozens of tabs open. They’re tabs you use regularly, if not several times a day so closing and reopening them is just a time-waster. Coming soon — already in Beta — to a Chrome browser near you, coloured tabs to help organise that messy mass of tabs you have open.

Now, with a simple right click, you can group your tabs together and label them with a custom name and colour. Once the tabs are grouped together, you can move and reorder them on the tab strip.

While this is a side step from Tab Groups on the mobile platform, Google hasn’t arrived at this solution by accident. They have consulted and researched how users, particularly tab collectors like to group their open tabs. By identifying this want, the implementation is so simple and provides such great organisational capacity. Whether you organise tabs by groups of task or priorities, you can soon organise and tag them.

The continual improvements to Chrome on both desktop and mobile platforms make for good user experience. This experience explains the significant market share that Google Chrome enjoys in comparison to other Internet Browsers.

What features would you like Chrome to add or tweak to keep you on the platform?
